Letter to the Editor: “Christian” Homosexual Singer Vicky Beeching Thanks Contemplative Spirituality For Helping Her “Come Out”

Dear Lighthouse Friends,

Vicky Beeching (source: http://www.diva250awards.com/campaigner.html)

When I searched your blog, I did not find information on “Vicky Beeching.”  She is apparently a big figure in Christian pop music.  So you might want to put her on your blog list.

I did not know about Vicky Beeching until yesterday: claiming to be an evangelical Christian, she revises Scripture to justify her homosexuality.  (The current Archbishop of Canterbury for the Anglican Church of England, Justin Welby has given her an award for her praise/worship music. http://www.christianpost.com/news/christian-lesbian-rock-star-vicky-beeching-given-award-by-archbishop-of-canterbury-187689/)

But here is the major point I want to make: she connects justification for biblical revision with contemplative spirituality.

This 2015 video address to the Gay Christian Network (GCN) is to the point about contemplative spirituality:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zlZLYZxyg4

Unless you want to listen to Beeching’s entire talk, you can fast forward to minute 52: here she quotes Rob Bell, then less than a minute and a half later–WOW–she brings contemplative spirituality to the discussion for justification of homosexuality.

And one of her songs–“Breath of God” certainly resonates with contemplative practices.

Regards,

Linda

** LTRP Note: In this video clip of this popular “Christian” singer, she says that it was through practicing contemplative prayer that she gained the courage to reveal that she was homosexual. This makes sense because once a person begins meditating, their spiritual outlook begins to change, away from biblical truths and toward universalism, panentheism, evolution, and yes, even homosexuality. Also if you listen to Beeching’s talk, starting at the 52 minute mark, you will hear her talk about the importance of “doubt.” This is a key in understanding the emergent church, of which Beeching is obviously a part. Emergents, such as Rob Bell, Tony Jones, Doug Pagitt, Dan Kimball, Brian McLaren, teach that it is wrong to be certain about anything (including the Bible and the biblical Gospel). You can see this played out very clearly in the movie Doubt with Meryl Streep). Beeching, and these others, are part of a movement to completely undermine and destroy true Christianity (which is the faith defined in the Bible). Sadly, millions, of young people searching for truth will be led into the arms of these emergents and will ultimately reject the Jesus Christ of the Bible. If you are a grandparent or parent, are you doing EVERYTHING you can do to protect the young people in your lives? The consequences for being apathetic are eternal.

InterVarsity Comes Under Heat for Trying to Make a Stand Against Same-Sex Marriage – But Straddling the Fence is Hard to Do

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has come under public heat because it recently announced they were giving an ultimatum to employees who saw nothing wrong with same-sex (homosexual) marriage. In a Charisma magazine article (we are not endorsing Charisma), the author states:

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is one of the leading campus ministries, and its publishing arm, InterVarsity Press, is one of the top Christian publishers. But this fine ministry is learning the hard way that, when it comes to homosexuality, you cannot straddle the fence.1

The reason the Charisma writer says “straddle the fence” is because InterVarsity Press has been publishing emergent, contemplative, New Age/New Spirituality authors for a long time, and mixing truth with error has finally caught up with them. The Charisma article reveals more:

As Jonathan Merritt reports on the Religion News Service, “40 authors in InterVarsity’s publishing house stable including Shane Claiborne, David Dark, Christena Cleveland, Ian Morgan Cron, and Chris Heuertz are calling on IVCF head Tom Lin to immediately replace the policy with one that makes space for opposing views. The letter indicates that the signers ‘do not all share the same theological or political views’ but ‘are united in our concern for the dignity and care of our fellow Christians whose jobs are threatened by your policy.'”

You may recall articles Lighthouse Trails has written about Shane Claiborne and Ian Morgan Cron. Both very emergent, to say the least. Just to give you a little sampling of the beliefs of authors InterVarsity has been publishing, read this quote by Ian Morgan Cron:

I grew up a Roman Catholic and later became an Anglican priest (it was the closest I could get to being a Catholic priest without having to “swim the Tiber”) so there’s definitely a weird brew of influences floating around the community. I’m presently studying spiritual direction and contemplative spirituality at the Shalem Institute and beginning next year in a doctoral program at Fordham University (The Jesuit University of New York) so the voices of Merton, Rahner, Ignatius, St Francis, Teresa of Avila, Evelyn Underhill and other contemplatives find their way into our ministries and preaching as well. (source)

If you have been reading Lighthouse Trails for any amount of time, you will probably be familiar with the interspiritual Shalem Institute and that list of names mentioned above by Morgan Cron. That quote by him was said in an online interview as you can read about in a Lighthouse Trails 2013 article where we discussed our concerns about Ian Morgan Cron speaking at a Nazarene university. We stated in that article:

Lest one think that the Nazarenes stand alone in embracing Cron, just take a look at Cron’s speaking schedule [link no longer available]. Places he will be speaking (or has spoken) at include: World Vision, Willow Creek, Denver Seminary, Family Fest with the Gaithers, the Dove Awards, Renovare, C3 Conference with Philip Yancey, the Calvinist Crossroads Community Church in MD, Texas Christian University,  Catalyst Conference with Andy Stanley, and Worship Leaders Conference with James McDonald and Saddleback pastor Buddy Owens.

Ian Morgan Cron is a New Age/New Spirituality “Christian” as his writings clearly prove. Shane Claiborne, mentored by socialist liberal evangelical Tony Campolo, is in the same camp. A few other InterVarsity New Spirituality (contemplative, interspiritual, ecumenical, and emergent) authors are Dan Allender (a favorite for Moody Radio), Fil Anderson (Running on Empty), Lynne Babb,  Ruth Haley Barton, Richard Foster’s colleague (part of Renovare) Gayle Beebe, Buddhist-sympathizer & Catholic Peter Kreeft, Calvin Miller (who admires Virgin-birth and Son of God denier Marcus Borg), Kenneth Boa, Gregory Boyd, and a name just as disconcerting as Ian Morgan Cron, Adele Ahlberg Calhoun (promotes all kinds of mystical practices and people in her book Spiritual Disciplines Handbook), and Julie Cameron (author of The Artist’s Way discussed in A Time of Departing by Ray Yungen because of her mystical propensities). Frankly, this list would have to go on for several more paragraphs just to name all the InterVarsity authors who fall in a similar category as Ian Morgan Cron.

No wonder so many within the ranks of the InterVarsity author-machine are speaking against their homosexual ultimatum. (For the purposes of this article, remember the connection there is between emergent/contemplative thinking and a laxed view on homosexuality.) The Trojan horse has entered Christian publishing, and the enemy is now within the walls. Maybe it’s time that InterVarsity wakes up, repents, and starts seeking after biblical integrity in what they are publishing and promoting. It’s a little ludicrous for them to think they can spend years publishing liberal, socialistic, New Age, mystical contemplative authors and then scratch their heads in wonder when these same authors challenge them for trying to be biblical when it comes to issues such as homosexuality. As we’ve said so many times before, straddling the fence is not an easy thing to do, and in today’s mixed up immoral society—a society which is going after Christians who try to stand for what is right—straddling the fence for Christians is almost impossible to maintain. Hopefully, InterVarsity Press will figure this out before they lose altogether under the pressure. It will be interesting to see what their next move is. One thing is for sure, they won’t be alone. Countless Christian publishers, ministries, churches, and leaders are straddling the same fence, and their day of reckoning is coming too.

Rob Bell: “We’re moments away from the Church embracing gay marriage” – Wife Calls it “a Battle”

Live The Life You Want Weekend, Houston

“There are churches who are moving forward and there are churches who are almost regressing and making it more of a battle”—Kristen Bell (Rob Bell’s wife)

By Amy Spreeman

Rob Bell and his wife, Kristen, are making headlines again, this time about gay marriage and the church.  Before we start, just a point to our emergent friends: When it comes to heretical teachers like Bell, we are NOT to “eat the meat and spit out the bones (advice found nowhere in Scripture), but instead we are to follow the command to mark and avoid false teachers.

(Romans 16:17-18) “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”

Here’s an excerpt from the show that aired Sunday, Feb. 15. reported what Bell said on Super Soul Sunday, airing on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN channel:

“One of the oldest aches in the bones of humanity is loneliness,” Rob Bell said. “Loneliness is not good for the world. Whoever you are, gay or straight, it is totally normal, natural and healthy to want someone to go through life with. It’s central to our humanity. We want someone to go on the journey with.”

That statement prompted a question from Oprah: “When is the church going to get that?”

“We’re moments away,” Rob Bell said. “I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and co-workers and neighbors and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone.”

Said Kristen Bell: “There are churches who are moving forward and there are churches who are almost regressing and making it more of a battle.”   (SOURCE)

Bell recently started a broadcast group called “The Liturgists,” and promotes “mother God” and a deep mystical New Age mediation called  “apophatic prayer.” Click here to continue reading.

Pope Francis: “Gay lobby” exists inside Vatican

By Daniel Burke
CNN

(CNN) – Pope Francis said a “gay lobby” exists inside the Vatican, a surprising disclosure from a pope who has already delivered his share of stunners, and a resurrection of church conflicts that had bedeviled his predecessor’s papacy.

“In the Curia,” Francis said, referring to Catholicism’s central bureaucracy, “there are holy people. But there is also a stream of corruption.”

“The ‘gay lobby’ is mentioned, and it is true, it is there,” Francis continued. “We need to see what we can do.”

Hints that the Holy See contained a network of gay clergy surfaced last year in reports about a series of embarrassing leaks to Italian journalists.

The “Vatileaks” scandal factored in Pope Emeritus Benedict XIV’s shocking decision to resign earlier this year, according to some church experts, as it impressed upon the 86-year-old pontiff that the modern papacy requires a vigorous and watchful presence. Click here to continue reading.

Obama Says Homosexuals Should Have Access to Boy Scouts

LTRP Note: Less than a year after the  “Boy Scouts reaffirm ban on homosexuals despite relentless protest campaigns,” the organization will be deciding soon on whether to lift that ban. In the video below, the President of the United States says that homosexuals should be able to have access to Boy Scouts and to every walk of life. Today, the pressure is on the Boy Scouts; soon in the future, pressure will be on non-profit 501 (c)3 churches who will be “encouraged” to allow homosexuals access to lead their pulpits (whether the churches want it or not).

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Sunday encouraged the Boy Scouts of America to end its ban on gay members and leaders, days before the group is expected to vote on the controversial and long-standing rule.

In an interview with CBS, anchor Scott Pelley asked the president if he believed scouting should be open to gays.

“Yes,” Obama said simply.

Asked to elaborate, Obama – who last year said he supports the right of same-sex couples to marry – said gays and lesbians should be able to participate in “every institution” that others can.

“My attitude is … that gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does, in every institution and walk of life,” he said. Click here to continue reading.

2012 YEAR IN REVIEW – Part 5 – “TOP STORIES COVERAGE ON “CHILDREN AT RISK”

Note: Some have asked why Lighthouse Trails has always included a category “Children at Risk” when our ministry focus is exposing the truth about the New Spirituality. We have determined, over the course of several years of researching, that certain elements fit within the scope of the “New Age/New Spirituality.” Each of these elements has two things in common: 1) each draws people away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and 2) each leads to death and/or destruction of people’s lives. Thus, we call this New Age/New Spirituality the “death religion.” These elements include: occultism, mysticism, evolution, abortion, homosexuality, and child sexual abuse (pedophilia).

2012 was not a good year for children. Frankly, adults are not doing a good job protecting them, both in the secular world and in many Christian circles. Lighthouse Trails has covered just a small portion of news stories where children are at risk. To capsulate, child sexual abuse is rampant, Yoga and meditation are being taught to children all over the place, including in many churches and youth groups, children are being shot in schools and the wrong things are being blamed,  evolution and occultism are prevalent in public schools and in the media, and homosexual marriage has made huge inroads putting thousands and thousands of children at risk.  Basically, the welfare and safety of children has gone amuck. State and Federal government and the United Nations [Agenda 21] are moving in quickly to take over the role, and parents are going to lose their freedom to take care of their own children because so many haven’t been doing the job right. And thus, Lighthouse Trails will continue to do its small part in protecting children.

In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. Matthew 2:18

1/(SEXUAL ABUSE) Sandusky Convicted of Child Sex Abuse – Lighthouse Trails To Address Issue of Child Abuse in New Book On June 22nd, former Penn State University assistant football coach, Jerry Sandusky, was convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse, from abuse that took
place over a 15 year period (as the video news clip below describes). Lighthouse Trails has been an advocate for children since our inception, when we released Laughter Calls Me in 2003. . . . In the fall of 2012, Lighthouse Trails will be releasing a book, Seducers Among Our Children, written by a retired New York police sergeant. Patrick Crough, through the lens of his Christian faith, shares his experience as an investigative officer for child sex abuses cases for many years  in New York

2/(SEXUAL ABUSE) “Tom White, Abuse, VOM, and the Power of the Internet”

Last Thursday afternoon I received a call while in my office at Emmanuel Enid. One of our secretaries buzzed in and said, “I have a man on the phone who
claims to be the father of the young girl abused by Tom White and he wishes to speak to you.”
My heart skipped a beat. Earlier in the week I had felt
impressed to write an open letter on the Internet to the unnamed and unknown girl allegedly abused by Tom White, the Executive Dirctor of Voice of the Marytyrs. The police and press had both reported that Tom White had committed suicide while under investigation for possible abuse of this young girl.

3/(MYSTICISM) Sending Your Child or Teen to Camp This Summer? – Be Careful – Many are Promoting Contemplative Spirituality

Summer is fast approaching, and with it, comes Christian summer camps for youth. But there are now many Christian retreat and conference centers that are advocating or promoting contemplative spirituality and the emerging church. Such camps would be spiritually dangerous choices to send a child or teen for summer camp. Please use wisdom and discernment when choosing a summer camp. And instead of sending your child alone to a camp, consider attending a family camp where the entire family goes together. Either way, please be careful.

4/(MYSTICISM) Young Life’s History of Embracing Contemplative Authors Continues

No one can doubt that Young Life, a 72 year old Christian organization  that reaches out to young people, has a heart for kids. Volunteers and paid staff work diligently week after week in communities throughout America, Canada, and over 60 other countries to help get teens on the right path in life. In the course of a year, hundreds of thousands of kids come into contact with Young Life. Unfortunately, while their zeal to help kids is commendable, Young Life has been turning to contemplative mystics for guidance and spiritual instruction for at least two decades.

5/(OCCULTISM) Toying with Death – Learning to Love Evil & Crave Violence

Vile “entertaining” images mold the minds of children and youth around the world! Do you wonder what will happen to our nation and culture when these conditioned youth reach adulthood? Might the civilized world be following a path to corruption and chaos that makes the decadence in ancient Rome seem mild by comparison?

6/(SEXUAL ABUSE) How to Protect Your Child From Sexual Predators – Part 1 – The Internet

I was investigating crimes against children long before the Internet became part of our daily lives. When I began my career, the Internet was still very much in the infant stages of its development, and its use was limited to the corporate world. But as it has evolved to its present state, the frequency of crimes against children has increased astronomically, and its use is beyond our ability to regulate. No longer is your child safe in the confines of your home under your close supervision. The Internet is the predator’s Trojan horse into what is supposed to be your fortress and sanctuary from the outside world.

7/(HOMOSEXUALITY) Amish Man Convicted For Helping Ex-Homosexual Protect Her Daughter

On Tuesday, an Amish-Mennonite pastor was found guilty of abetting international kidnapping, and on the same day a lawsuit was filed against him and several organizations that allegedly conspired to make the crime happen. Among those who are named as defendants in the suit are the Liberty University School of Law and Thomas Road Baptist Church, which is led by Senior Pastor Jonathan Falwell.

8/(HOMOSEXUALITY) What Happens to Kids When Homosexual Marriage is Approved

In their campaigns, activists have claimed that approval of homosexual marriage and transgender issues will not change how children are taught in public schools. But the National Organization for Marriage indicates that is not true.

9/(ABORTION) Obama Defends Roe v. Wade As Way for ‘Our Daughters’ to Have Same Chance As Sons to ‘Fulfill Their Dreams’

President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the “fundamental constitutional right” to abortion and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

10/(FREEDOM) War on U.S. homeschoolers escalates

Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, caught up in the high-profile Obamacare arguments that started today, have refused to intervene in a case in which deputies threatened parents with the forced removal of their children unless they agreed to let social workers, who did not have a warrant or probable case, search their home. The stunning conclusion came in a lawsuit brought on behalf of John and Tiffany Loudermilk, who sued officials after a confrontation at their Maricopa County, Ariz., home in 2005.

California Is First State to Ban ‘Conversion’ Therapy for Homosexual Teens

Associated Press

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation that makes California the first state to ban a controversial form of psychotherapy that’s aimed at making gay teenagers straight.

Effective Jan. 1, mental health practitioners are prohibited from performing sexual orientation change efforts — known as reparative or conversion therapy — for anyone under 18.

The therapies “have no basis in science or medicine and they will now be relegated to the dustbin of quackery,” Brown said in a statement.

Mainstream associations representing psychiatrists and psychologists have dismissed reparative therapy in recent decades. A number of mental health associations in California — including the state’s Board of Behavorial Sciences, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the California Psychological Association — supported the legislation.
