Note: Some have asked why Lighthouse Trails has always included a category “Children at Risk” when our ministry focus is exposing the truth about the New Spirituality. We have determined, over the course of several years of researching, that certain elements fit within the scope of the “New Age/New Spirituality.” Each of these elements has two things in common: 1) each draws people away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and 2) each leads to death and/or destruction of people’s lives. Thus, we call this New Age/New Spirituality the “death religion.” These elements include: occultism, mysticism, evolution, abortion, homosexuality, and child sexual abuse (pedophilia).
2012 was not a good year for children. Frankly, adults are not doing a good job protecting them, both in the secular world and in many Christian circles. Lighthouse Trails has covered just a small portion of news stories where children are at risk. To capsulate, child sexual abuse is rampant, Yoga and meditation are being taught to children all over the place, including in many churches and youth groups, children are being shot in schools and the wrong things are being blamed, evolution and occultism are prevalent in public schools and in the media, and homosexual marriage has made huge inroads putting thousands and thousands of children at risk. Basically, the welfare and safety of children has gone amuck. State and Federal government and the United Nations [Agenda 21] are moving in quickly to take over the role, and parents are going to lose their freedom to take care of their own children because so many haven’t been doing the job right. And thus, Lighthouse Trails will continue to do its small part in protecting children.
In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. Matthew 2:18

2/(SEXUAL ABUSE) “Tom White, Abuse, VOM, and the Power of the Internet”
Last Thursday afternoon I received a call while in my office at Emmanuel Enid. One of our secretaries buzzed in and said, “I have a man on the phone who
claims to be the father of the young girl abused by Tom White and he wishes to speak to you.” My heart skipped a beat. Earlier in the week I had felt
impressed to write an open letter on the Internet to the unnamed and unknown girl allegedly abused by Tom White, the Executive Dirctor of Voice of the Marytyrs. The police and press had both reported that Tom White had committed suicide while under investigation for possible abuse of this young girl.
Summer is fast approaching, and with it, comes Christian summer camps for youth. But there are now many Christian retreat and conference centers that are advocating or promoting contemplative spirituality and the emerging church. Such camps would be spiritually dangerous choices to send a child or teen for summer camp. Please use wisdom and discernment when choosing a summer camp. And instead of sending your child alone to a camp, consider attending a family camp where the entire family goes together. Either way, please be careful.
No one can doubt that Young Life, a 72 year old Christian organization that reaches out to young people, has a heart for kids. Volunteers and paid staff work diligently week after week in communities throughout America, Canada, and over 60 other countries to help get teens on the right path in life. In the course of a year, hundreds of thousands of kids come into contact with Young Life. Unfortunately, while their zeal to help kids is commendable, Young Life has been turning to contemplative mystics for guidance and spiritual instruction for at least two decades.
Vile “entertaining” images mold the minds of children and youth around the world! Do you wonder what will happen to our nation and culture when these conditioned youth reach adulthood? Might the civilized world be following a path to corruption and chaos that makes the decadence in ancient Rome seem mild by comparison?
I was investigating crimes against children long before the Internet became part of our daily lives. When I began my career, the Internet was still very much in the infant stages of its development, and its use was limited to the corporate world. But as it has evolved to its present state, the frequency of crimes against children has increased astronomically, and its use is beyond our ability to regulate. No longer is your child safe in the confines of your home under your close supervision. The Internet is the predator’s Trojan horse into what is supposed to be your fortress and sanctuary from the outside world.
7/(HOMOSEXUALITY) Amish Man Convicted For Helping Ex-Homosexual Protect Her Daughter
On Tuesday, an Amish-Mennonite pastor was found guilty of abetting international kidnapping, and on the same day a lawsuit was filed against him and several organizations that allegedly conspired to make the crime happen. Among those who are named as defendants in the suit are the Liberty University School of Law and Thomas Road Baptist Church, which is led by Senior Pastor Jonathan Falwell.
8/(HOMOSEXUALITY) What Happens to Kids When Homosexual Marriage is Approved
In their campaigns, activists have claimed that approval of homosexual marriage and transgender issues will not change how children are taught in public schools. But the National Organization for Marriage indicates that is not true.
President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the “fundamental constitutional right” to abortion and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”
10/(FREEDOM) War on U.S. homeschoolers escalates
Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, caught up in the high-profile Obamacare arguments that started today, have refused to intervene in a case in which deputies threatened parents with the forced removal of their children unless they agreed to let social workers, who did not have a warrant or probable case, search their home. The stunning conclusion came in a lawsuit brought on behalf of John and Tiffany Loudermilk, who sued officials after a confrontation at their Maricopa County, Ariz., home in 2005.

LTRP Note: On April 27th, 2012, Lighthouse Trails posted an article titled, “Heartfelt” Letter from Voice of the Martyrs Neglects Concern for 10-Year-Old Molested Child . We received some positive responses, but we also received a few that stated we were wrong to post the article because it simply couldn’t be true that Tom White of VOM molested a ten year old girl. It’s true that charges were dropped after he committed suicide because a dead person cannot be charged for a crime. So there never will be a trial against Tom White in a court of law. But that doesn’t mean the truth won’t at some point come out. The article below is written by a pastor in Oklahoma who wrote an open letter to the little girl and posted it on the Internet. This resulted in him receiving a phone call from the girl’s father. While we realize some will say this isn’t proof, we are posting this article by Mr. Burleson as we believe it will be helpful for our readers in their efforts to dicipher what is true. If you have comments, you can leave them on the blog where this article originates. (Posting this on our website is not an endorsement of the blog; but as we often do, we are posting an out of house article for informational and research purposes.)
“Tom White, Abuse, VOM, and the Power of the Internet”
By Wade Burleson
Last Thursday afternoon I received a call while in my office at Emmanuel Enid. One of our secretaries buzzed in and said, “I have a man on the phone who claims to be the father of the young girl abused by Tom White and he wishes to speak to you.” My heart skipped a beat. Earlier in the week I had felt impressed to write an open letter on the Internet to the unnamed and unknown girl allegedly abused by Tom White, the Executive Director of Voice of the Martyrs. The police and press had both reported that Tom White had committed suicide while under investigation for possible abuse of this young girl. When I first heard of Tom’s suicide, my immediate thoughts went to his victim. I was not sure if she would ever read the open letter, but I asked the Lord, if possible, to use the letter to bring healing to the girl and her family. For her to understand how important she was to me (and others), I wrote these words: “The first person I thought about when I read the story of your abuser’s death was you. I do not view his death as something more tragic than his abuse of you. Let me say that again in a different way. The abuse perpetrated on you is far more tragic than your abuser’s death. I did not think of his ministry, his reputation, or even his family when I first heard of his death. I thought about you. Your abuser’s sin and shame and his lack of personal responsibility and courage are the direct causes of his death. Your abuser took his own life and you had nothing to do with it.” Click here to continue reading.

Police close case on Bartlesville ministry leader – “Suspect [ Tom White of VOM] is dead,” say police.
TULSA, Okla. (WTW) — Police have closed a sex-abuse investigation after the head of an international Christian ministry named as a suspect apparently killed himself, authorities said Monday.
Tom White, 64, was being investigated, but had not been charged, in the abuse of a 10-year-old girl.
White was found dead last month at the Bartlesville headquarters of The Voice of the Martyrs, a nonprofit that provides medical supplies, food and clothing to those in need. . . . Bartlesville Police Capt. Jay Hastings said the department is closing its abuse investigation because the suspect is dead. Click here to continue reading.

Bartlesville Police Department officials say it could take months to receive an official cause of death for former Voice of the Martyrs Executive Director Walter Thomas “Tom” White.
“As far as the death investigation goes, only the State Medical Examiner can answer that question,” BPD Capt. Jay Hastings told the Examiner-Enterprise. “They will complete an official report on Tom White’s cause of death; this sometimes takes three to six months.”
Hasting said it is likely that the State Medical Examiner’s Office will be waiting for toxicology reports.
“The Bartlesville Police Department can’t release or comment on another agency’s report,” he said. “When that report is complete, I believe it is public record.”
White was found dead the morning of April 18 at the VOM complex, located east of Bartlesville, after he was reported missing the night before. Court records obtained by the Examiner-Enterprise showed that White had very recently been accused of molesting a young girl and authorities had launched an investigation.
Hastings said reports into that investigation will not be made public.
“That will not be released and that is a closed report at this time,” he said, noting that only one document, a “warrant for order” seeking White’s cellular phone location, was filed at the courthouse. That has been made public and was reported in the E-E. Click here to continue reading.
Update: To read a statement that VOM posted two days after the April 25th letter from VOM president, Jim Dau wrote, click here.
As many of you know, Voice of the Martyrs long-time Executive Director, Tom White is suspected of committing suicide last month. On Wednesday, April 25th, 2012, Voice of the Martyrs president, Jim Dau, issued a statement titled: “Heartfelt Letter from VOM’s President on Tom White.” The letter expressed deep sorrow for the untimely suicide death of Tom White. The letter did mention that White took his life after allegations came forth that White “had inappropriate contact with a young girl.” While the letter said that White loved his wife and children and that personnel at VOM were heartbroken, virtually nothing was noted in the letter to express the deep sorrow that should be felt for the alleged 10- year-old victim. When a child is molested, it is a scar he or she will live with the rest of his or her life.
While we can understand that VOM staff and leaders are most likely in a state of shock and despair over Tom White’s apparent suicide and the circumstances surrounding his death, they need to understand that they are being watched right now by millions around the world to see how they will handle this tragic situation. God forbid that they would try to white wash and minimize what Tom White allegedly did. When you have organizations such as the American Psychological Assocation stating that sexual contact with children is OK as long as the child is consenting, and when you have a fallen society, such as America, that says homosexuality is normal and abortion is acceptable, and when you have a society that is filled with pornography from grocery stores to the Internet, Christian believers cannot fall into such a demoralizing evil trap that by its very nature denies God.
Even referring to White’s alleged child abuse as “inappropriate contact with” somehow minimizes such a crime. Using the word “with” can give the impression that there is some sort of mutual agreement. Rather than stating “inappropriate contact with,” it would be better to state “immoral contact against” the girl. We don’t mean to sound picky, but VOM should choose their words very carefully right now, for the sake of their ministry, for the sake of child abuse victims everywhere, and yes, for the sake of the Gospel.
We are not trying to say that the work Tom White participated in for many years at VOM to help persecuted people should be negated. But please, VOM, do not try to make this less than it is. Take this opportunity to humbly apologize to the body of Christ, to the little girl and her family, and to God.
Voice of the Martyrs has, as have most mainstream Christian organizations, been promoting contemplative spirituality and showing signs of being sympathetic toward Catholicism. Wouldn’t this tragedy be a perfect time to get right with God, and in so doing, point the world to the One Who came to save whosoever shall believe on Him?
Perhaps, Jim Dau left out feelings of remorse for the little girl in order to protect VOM financially or legally. But if VOM thinks they will help their organization maintain its integrity and financial strength by writing letters like the one Jim Dau wrote, they are terribly mistaken. Donors will flee by the droves. Humility, repentance, restitution (to the girl and other possible victims), biblical integrity, honesty – these are the qualities that their donors and supporters will be looking for.

Resources on Child Abuse from Lighthouse Trails:
Oklahoma authorities are investigating whether the executive director of an international Christian ministry killed himself amid allegations he’d molested a 10-year-old girl, police said Monday.
Tom White had been reported missing last Tuesday, the same day police in Bartlesville received a report about the alleged molestation, said Bartlesville Police Capt. Jay Hastings. White was the executive director for The Voice of the Martyrs, a nonprofit headquartered in in the city 50 miles north of Tulsa that says it provides medical supplies, food and clothing to persecuted Christians worldwide.
Police found the 64-year-old’s body at the organization’s Bartlesville headquarters Wednesday. Employees discovered a letter in White’s vehicle indicating he was “suicidal or possibly fleeing to avoid investigation” and turned it over to police, Hastings said.
“You can take it either way,” Hastings said. “It was kind of a goodbye letter. You don’t know if he was talking about himself.”
Hastings said police are awaiting an autopsy report by the state Medical Examiner’s Office. A message seeking comment was left with the office Monday. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/04/23/cops-oklahoma-ministry-head-dies-amid-abuse-probe/#ixzz1svkP25gU
Statement from Voice of the Martyrs
Tom White: (1947-2012)
April 20, 2012
The Voice of the Martyrs statement concerning the death of Tom White:
The events of the last week are tragic. On Wednesday we learned that Tom White, VOM’s executive director, had died.
Allegations were made to authorities this week that Tom had inappropriate contact with a young girl. Rather than face those allegations, and all of the resulting fallout for his family and this ministry and himself, Tom appears to have chosen to take his own life.
None of those in leadership at VOM, including our Board of Directors, were aware of these allegations at the time of Tom’s death.
There is no doubt that Tom cared about his wife, his children and his grandchildren. And there’s no doubt that he cared about VOM.
We are deeply saddened by these events. Our hearts are broken.
However, the work that God has called VOM to do is bigger than any one of us. There are persecuted Christians who need our help. The legal process will go forward, and we will continue serving with our persecuted brothers and sisters.
We appreciate the many who are praying for our work, and we encourage you to join us in praying for Tom’s family during this difficult time, as well as the family of the alleged victim.
A letter from VOM’s president will be posted on our web site, www.Persecution.com, next week. (source)
