What is Spiritual Formation?

What is Contemplative Spirituality?

Campus Crusade For Christ Heads Into Contemplative

Campus Crusade for Christ is now providing a labyrinth experience from their Global Prayer Movement website as well as retreats they hold. The Global Prayer Movement is a "ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ."

In addition to the labyrinth, Campus Crusade offers what they call The Journey, a medieval "prayer experience" that includes a labyrinth and prayer stations.

Campus Crusade Conferences Promoting Spiritual Formation with Richard Foster and Dallas Willard

"Delving into Spritual Formation ... We will look at the theology, the goal, and the power source of spiritual formation. We will also take a brief look at some old practices that Christians long ago believed were helpful in one's abiding with Christ as well as consider some contemporary advocates of spiritual formation (e.g. Richard Foster, Dallas Willard)." From the Experience Jesus website. This conference took place 12/2005. Experience Jesus is a Campus Crusade Event.

Contemplative Spirituality: A belief system that uses ancient mystical practices to induce altered states of consciousness (the silence) and is rooted in mysticism and the occult but often wrapped in Christian terminology. The premise of contemplative spirituality is pantheistic (God is all) and panentheistic (God is in all). Common terms used for this movement are "spiritual formation," "the silence," "the stillness," "ancient-wisdom," "spiritual disciplines," and many others.

Spiritual Formation: A movement that has provided a platform and a channel through which contemplative prayer is entering the church. Find spiritual formation being used, and in nearly every case you will find contemplative spirituality. In fact, contemplative spirituality is the heartbeat of the spiritual formation movement.
