Thanks for all the uploads! I personally never watched The Chosen b/c of a sense in my spirit & also b/c at the time, I thought it was being promoted by the RCC. I noticed in the documentary about the scenes behind The Chosen that in the book, JESUS is referred to as the UNICORN but unicorn in the Hebrew means essentially a WILD OX, IT WAS A WILD SPECIES OF CATTLE AT THE TIME JOB WAS WRITTEN! Thanks for this eye-opener in this link. Have seen that title, and not wanted to watch it. Was drawn away from it, that’s God speaking. We need to listen to those impressions from His Spirit that also dwells within us ….
It never occurred to me, as discribed in this writing, how dangerous “biblical” movies are. I have watched many such as “Esther”,Samson”, “Moses”, etc. and read the story from the Bible and pick out the parts in the movies that are untrue, not in the Bible. I will not watch any more so called Bible movies. While I read the Bible for myself, most people do not, and should, so that God can show them His Truth.
    Serious subtle deceptions!

I too was uneasy while watching “The Chosen”. The main problem I had with it was the characterization of Jesus and the other people in the film. Christ was depicted as too human, and there were so many other people not mentioned in the Bible. It began to dawn on me that this was not true, and millions of people will be thinking these characters will be in the Bible. They will turn to their Bible, not find them there, be disappointed, and it will further corrode their faith. Or, they will believe this lie to be the truth, and whatever the creators of this film want will be forever imprinted in their minds.

To take a stand against something that is so popular and warmly received by so many within the Church, is to stand as a fool in the eyes of the world, but faithful before God.

“Only the absence of the Holy Spirit from the pulpit and lack of true discernment on the part of professing Christians can account for the spread of religious drama among so-called evangelical churches. A Spirit-filled church could not tolerate it.” – A.W. Tozer

For certain men have crept in unnoticed…ungodly men

    Jude 1:4

Along with this passage in Jude, also consider the following passages that speak of the coming apostasy: “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons”; “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables”; “For of this sort are those who creep into households and take captive gullible women” (1 Tim 4:1; 2 Tim 4:3,4; 2 Tim 3:6).  As we consider these passages together, we come to the following conclusion: The Spirit of God expressly warns that there is a time coming when many will depart from the faith.  No longer interested in sound doctrine, they will turn away from the truth and look for teachers who will satisfy their cravings.  Ungodly men and false teachers will creep into the church completely unnoticed and warmly welcomed by those who would rather be carried along by emotion rather than grounded in the truth; many of which are gullible women.

I write this in light of the current fascination with the “Christian” drama series THE CHOSEN, a film on the life of Christ.  The aforementioned passages clearly speak to this production.  When professing Christians are not grounded in the faith and the truth of God’s word, then they will be prone to give heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.  When they are bored with or disinterested in sound doctrine, they will readily embrace and support the things that entertain their emotions rather than edify their faith.  The Church is to be grounded in the apostle’s doctrine through the preaching of the Word by Spirit filled and anointed men, not entertained through dramatic reenactments by actors playing a role.  The Pope, a man who has clearly departed from the apostolic faith, and has been understood throughout church history as one of the many antichrists who have gone out into the world, gives his hearty approval to the film.  The Mormon Church financially supports and is heavily involved in the production of the series.  The art of drama and theater date back to the ancient Greeks; it was originally a part of the worship of the god Dionysus and was carried on with drunken revelry.  Drama and theater belong to the world, and the worst part of the world, Hollywood, has perfected it.  What does it say about the Church when she turns from the biblical means of grace to the corrupt methods of Hollywood?  This production completely ignores the biblical admonition not to add to or take from the Word of God, it does both.  “For of this sort are those who creep into households and take captive gullible women”; the stated target audience of this series are women between 25-45 years old.  To take a stand against something that is so…

One of the things that really bothers me about the series, which I did watch but won’t continue to (and I watched the you tube review) is it now appears that the whole thing was cooked up by this
Darral Eves guy and his Mormon buddies. Dallas Jenkins is the ‘salesman’ and makes it sound like it was his project, but if I am following the information presented in the you tube review, this Eves guy put this all together and got the Mormon studio lined up and they even talked Jenkins into being the front guy, the spokesperson. Very deceiving to me, because you are never told you are watching a Mormon production. Quite smart of them actually to use the Christian guy to deceive us so they can worm their way in and start promoting their beliefs. Jenkins keeps defending himself by saying, well, we love the same Jesus. Love, maybe, but Dallas, have you bothered to find out if you BELEIVE in the same Jesus? And what it is you believe? Big difference!

Could you be a little more clear as to how this is “Mormon Based”? They are using their physical sets, but can you clearly point out the doctrinal problems? Not artistic license, but clear theological issues??

I can’t say that I’m surprised that there’s something wrong with this series. I stopped thinking that Hollywood or anyone can get Jesus or the gospel right anymore. Though some people were saying this was the best show, I was still wary of it.

Congregations here in Norway make use of both “The Bible Project” and “The Chosen.” The largest Lutheran organization here, Norsk Luthersk Misjonssamband NLM, (outside of the state church) that still is considered to stick to the Bible, use both TBP and The Chosen in their youth ministries. Worse, they bring it with them also to the mission field abroad.

The “Chosen,” are indeed CHOSEN to deceive!
After watching a couple of the episodes, and downloading the app with a face staring at me; I deleted app and the image of this jesus.

The deception and worship of the character{s} (another Jesus, another spirit, another gospel …)is vast!

    Mark 14:44a
And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss….

This Judas kiss involves: any and all religions. I. e., one world religion. A FALSE Messiah – Antichrist. Satanic deception.

Thank you for this link. I have watched this production and wasn’t sure that I could give it a thumbs up. Something made me uneasy, but I couldn’t explain why. Now I can. Gotta love those Holy Spirit nudges😉. I got sucked in to The Shack, and a very courageous young man pointed out the fallacies. That is how I found this website. I almost joined the Jesus Calling cult as well, but I knew where to find answers that time! Thank you for your work.

First one could hardly follow. Second episode Jesus in the woods interacting with children before He was publicly known. Enough for me

Yes, discernment is necessary! Yet let’s not get too religious like the Pharisees and the Sadducees did. The legalism, parochialism, religiosity of the current denominations of this day have “FAILED!!!” Baptists, Catholicism, Lutherans, Mormonism, Pentecostals ALL OF THEM AND MORE FAILED their congregations! Religions are man made, boasting to God, look what we can do for you God…like God needs man to do anything for Him! Religious legalism…is man binding man to serve man! These so-called bishops, priests and pastors; instead of feeding the flock they fleeced them and fed themselves! I can quote scripture all day and be an arm-chair quarterback and critique the venues, and their past; yet God uses all people for His schedule and time! Not just the gucci dressed individual sitting at the pew behind the four walls of a building. Is this unorthodox? Yes it is! Who knows maybe it will bring millions of Mormons to Christ!!! Who’s to say it won’t? The Berean Call whatever you label yourselves as? Thanks for the heads up and we’ll take it under advisement!

Never wanted to watch it and don’t watch it but had no idea it was Mormon based. My goodness!!! I have so many Christian friends that watch it and have wanted me to watch it. I tell them no, because I don’t like shows that depict Jesus cuz they can’t get it right. We are not to add or take away from Gods Word. Thank you Lighthouse Trails for bringing out the truth to share about this.

Thank you for posting that and the link to ‘The (Counterfeit) Chosen’. I have seen the first two seasons of The Chosen. I found parts of it moving, but admit I was troubled by a lot of the artistic license taken, fearing those NOT intimately familiar with The Bible might swallow it ALL as ‘truth’. I will not be watching any future shows by this Mormon production company.
