You may have heard of it by now; a whole lot of people have—It’s a YouTube series called The Telepathy Tapes, and the series claim to fame has been obtained by discussing non-verbal Autistic children and young people, who are now communicating by spelling. While that practice has gone on for some time, what’s unique about The Telepathy Tapes is the focus on the esoteric, other worldliness, New Age messages of unity, oneness, and even astral projection experiences of these Autistic children and young people. Mark Baker, author of the just released book, Testing the Telepathy Tapes, explains:
[T]he people behind . . . The Telepathy Tapes (TTT) . . . would like us to fully embrace what they are proclaiming, which is that a certain group of young individuals [non-verbal Autistics] hold the keys to a “mind-blowing” future for all of humanity. And further, that the fulfillment of the world-altering promises hinge on all of us believing in these children, and embracing the messages they are trumpeting. (pp. 6-7).
While some reading this may not yet have heard of The Telepathy Tapes, make no mistake about it—It’s becoming a huge thing, and it’s not a good situation for the kids or for anyone! Former New Age leader (now born-again Christian) Doreen Virtue recently interviewed Mark Baker on YouTube about The Telepathy Tapes, and it is an interview worth watching and, in fact, important to watch.
I am saddened that the tool for non-speaker autistic children and young adults is being used in this way. “Spelling to Communicate “ has opened up a new life for these kids and young adults who have brain injury that prevents them from speaking. Many families who have discovered this tool have had miraculous experiences with their children learning to express themselves who felt trapped and unable to interact except non-verbally. It gives them the ability to communicate with their families and friends and many have gone on to higher education and are impacting their families and communities to bring understanding and opportunities! It gives them a whole new life! Anything good can be twisted and warped by Satan and we need to pray for these young spellers to be guided in a Godly direction with this new-found skill.
