i am a regular attender at a large non-denominational christian church north of Boston. Several years ago a weekly men’s study group to which I belonged used Richard Foster’s Celebration of Discipline was used as the study text. (It was one of the texts suggested by the church.) At the time, there were sections I felt uncomfortable with. Now after reading this article and after further study, I know why. Within 5 years, and to this day, the church has incorporated Meditation Spaces and even Mazes during Lent. I think this is a perfect example of the way New Age spiritual practices can infiltrate even a fairly conservative evangelical congregation.
