Laura, I’m curious as to why you put “Christian” (church) in quotes? Is there another kind of church, in your experience?

and there are some who use discernment as a disguise for hatred in their hearts. This is what the Bible says to do concerning those who have trouble understanding right doctrine, Jud 1:22  And of some have compassion, making a difference:  Jud 1:23  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Laura, Since you asked, look at the topic list on the right side of this page. Scroll to New Age Movement. Articles on pantheism are a sub category. Research on any topic is just a click or 2 away for everyone who seeks answers.

Laura asked: “What are some examples of teaching in the ‘Christian’ church that would be panetheism?” A glaring example of panentheism (God IN everything) would be Rick Warren’s promotion of the idea in his book “The Purpose Driven Life”. On page 88, RW quotes Eph. 4:6 from the “New Century Version”, a Bible translation with a distinct New Age bias. As quoted in TPDL, the NCV reads “He rules everything and is everywhere and is IN everything.” In context–and in good translations like the KJV and NASB–the verse is speaking of God being in all believers, not all things.

Contemplative Prayer via the Spiritual Formation movement. You can read about this in Ray Yungen’s materials.

We are all called to put away our childish things, to stop drinking milk to study to show ourselves approved. We are all called to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. We must not confuse timidity or rank cowardice with being loving and gracious. Jesus at various times corrected with gentleness with private and public rebukes and with violence. The only time that Jesus remained mute in the face of heresy and blaspheme and open rebellion against God was during the events surrounding His crucifixion. Errant or false teaching slanders Jesus. It slanders the gospel. False teaching in some form or fashion always has potential to harm His sheep. Jesus likened false teachers to ravening wolves. Yes indeed how dare Lighthouse take a stand against ravening wolves.

I ask myself… am I trying to tear the other person apart or am I concerned for the brethren and those that don’t know? From… https://hopeishereblog.wordpress.com/the-holy-kiss/ I don’t like being “on guard”… discussing it… anymore than you do… but… For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:11-13)… it warrants caution. The rulers of darkness… they’re the “bad guys”… we have the” Good Guy” on our side—I’d say the Holy Spirit is crucial to… the whole armour of God… I’d be in a tough position if I grieved and squelched Him. Some will say… it’s not our job to point out (judge) the shysters. I’ll ask… was it my job to shout loudly at my wife when she was walking looking down, and ahead of me, in the parking lot when a car was backing up headed straight for her? Was I guilty of abuse… or love? She came home with me in one piece. If we love someone… we’ll shout when we see danger… do not ye judge them that are within?… (1 Corinthians 5:11-12).
