The “Going Forward Together Conference” took place at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia on November 16-19. The conference is another indicator of the escalation of redefining Christianity into a religion that blends with the world’s religious traditions. According to the conference website, the objectives are to:
*Network with leaders from across the United States and beyond
*Learn “best practices” in parish ministry today
*Go home with deeper understanding and renewed vitality for ministry in the Third Millennium
With speakers like Brian McLaren, Phyllis Tickle and Diana Butler Bass, this “deeper understanding” means moving away from biblical Christianity and “forward” into a New Age Christianity that will incorporate the practices and beliefs of Eastern religions. Ultimately, this “renewed vitality” they speak of will have to diminish the gospel message of Jesus Christ that says He is the only means of salvation.
The sessions at the conference included ones on Centering Prayer, Servant Leadership, Faith Communities, Church Wellness. While this particular conference is geared mostly towards a more Orthodox type audience, there is nothing different about what this conference is pushing for and what evangelical leaders (Warren, Hybels, Blanchard, etc) have been pushing for.
