Carol, I was rescued out of the Catholic Church around 2020 and was getting “sucked in” to Nicky Gumbel and the “miracle” of healing. Please read more if lighthouse trails books on the Mary apparitions and also Johanna Michealson and Warren B Smith, Satan was once an angel and as such, can perform “signs and wonders” but where do they lead? Towards Jesus or away from the Jesus of the bible, the only true Jesus. Please be careful,
    Yours in Christ, Isobel

Very good article. Thank you for the encouragement. It is so very true in the church today. And I agree with one of the comments. The biggest danger in church is solo pastors!

I think each family in the church should have a shepherd, a father head (or mother when men are absent) who guides and directs their family in study and worship at home, and then they come together to the larger body with a plurality of elders to encourage and worship with one another.
To have a single shepherd over a church is more like Priests, no longer do we need a priest, we are all called,, and this has proven to be dangerous and tempting. Especially for the single women who must come to church. Their desire is often for their pastor rather than their husband. The Bible says 22 ¶ Wives, be subject to your OWN husbands, as to the Lord!!
Having worked for five pastors, and having been a woman believer with an unbelieving husband, I have seen the dangers again and again the temptation for emotional adultery and worldly living with no accountability.

Excellent article. I would like to add that one of the main reasons (if not THE reason) pastors are experiencing burn out is because they are not following the biblical mandate of plurality of leadership: Titus 1:5; Heb 13:7; 1 Pet 5:1-4 (by this I don’t mean having elders/deacons under them). Nowhere in scripture is a one man ministry supported, but everywhere a plurality of leadership. This is not to say that wolves won’t creep in, for we have seen it happen. What it does mean is that there are more eyes open and aware of what’s taking place to be able to stop the wolf in his tracks.
Thanks for this timely article. Keep up the good work. May the Lord richly bless your ministry.

Why do you site Alpha as being heretical? Are you referring to the Alpha course developed by Nicky Gumboll? I have been on this course at least 10 times and do not see any heresy in this course.

Having run over 200 nannies and kids in the mesa country of the Southwest… enough well fed and proven guard dogs were essential to keep from getting destoyed by coyotes and bears.

That we not lose sight of the call-out from… to leave behind… the earthly, sensual, and demonic wisdom of bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in a fallen world.

The infiltrators you’ve mentioned display this “wisdom” at some point.

James 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.

The false you’ve listed display this “wisdom” with time.
