  1. Contemplatives, and Eastern Mystics promote meditation, and contemplation. The biggest question here is this: “What are we to contemplate? What are we to meditate upon?” In the 1960’s the rage was transcendental meditation, and it was frequently combined with illegal drugs. Meditating on one’s own naval was a joke at which nobody laughed.
But I think the Church today IS missing out on something. The Bible not only encourages mediation, but tells us what Believers should meditate on.
Following the guideline of God’s Word, we will find God’s peace in Jesus Christ, we will find our faith affirmed, we will find ourselves prospering in all our endeavors.
Psalm 1:1-3, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Meditating on God’s Word will bless Believers who do it, and the churches they attend. Your vision will clear, with singleness of eye. To meditate on anything else is to meditate on and contemplate about the things of the world. Look to the Lord for all your needs, including your meditation. Enter into your Prayer Closet, just you and the Lord.

Decades ago when I began my new life in Christ I was puzzled by C. S. Lewis. He wrote that Hinduism would eventually put Christianity into danger. I thought that Islams history of killing Christians was the real danger.
Now i see that seduction into apostasy is far more dangerous than being martyred. In my studies thanks in great part to LHTR, I found out that all of the great false religions had a single common thread. Call it mysticism call meditative trance call it spiritual formation or contemplative meditation it is all doctrines of seducing spirits. Many primitive religions used mind altering drugs to induce them into a trance. Perhaps this is why sorcery or pharmacia is our root word for pharmacy. In the end the seducing spirits will lead them to a path of unity in oneness. Perhaps that means the old lie that all paths lead to God wasn’t simple foolishness it was devious seduction.

This faulty, demonically-inspired thinking (that the ministry of God’s Word via the power of His Holy Spirit is not enough, blah blah blah) is nothing new. When Satan tempted Eve, he said, “Has God said…?” and he has never stopped tempting people with that thought, to “go beyond” God’s Word (as if one really could — His wisdom is as high above ours as the heavens are above the earth!).

I was blessed to catch Michael Youssef on TV this past Sunday. He has written a new book about this very thing, with the title _Saving Christianity?_.

His book addresses this very issue and shows that ungodly men who once were professing Christians but then drifted away from the truth of God’s Word (fell away) proposed that very question, but without the question mark, years ago, insinuating that Christianity “needed changing”. The Lord never changes!!!

The title of the TV interview is No Compromise. Thank God for LHT and other faithful, godly leaders like Michael Youssef! He pointed out the fact that he left the “church” he grew up in years ago because they had so compromised God’s Word, and then showed that he is seeing the very same deterioration in “evangelical churches” today. God help us! And may his and your tribe increase! I am soooo thankful for LHT.

Thank you Ray, and May God bless all of you at lighthouse trails. These desert mystics have been out in the sun too long. Nothing new here. As you said, in the garden of Eden the serpent told Eve “you shall be as gods”. Both Adam and Eve sinned against God. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. The Lord Jesus could not sin. He came into the world to save sinners. He shed his blood on the cross to save lost sinners. He died on the cross for Me. Did he die for you? Repent and turn to God from idols. Put your faith in Christ and have peace with God for all eternity!
