Lighthouse Trails to Send Out 20th Mailing to Christian Pastors and Leaders

Since 2016, Lighthouse Trails has been sending out topical booklets (usually three times a year) to a growing list of pastors and Christian leaders. Next week, Lighthouse Trails will be sending out our first mailing of 2023 to Christian leaders & pastors. Our current list has over 1000 names. If you would like your pastor or a church leader to begin receiving these mailings, please send the name and a valid mailing address to us at editors@lighthousetrails.com. The names and addresses on this list will remain confidential and not be given or sold to anyone.

In this April 2023 mailing, we will be mailing out two booklets:

An Epidemic of Apostasy: How Christian Colleges Must Incorporate “Spiritual Formation” to Become Accredited by the Editors at Lighthouse Trails (2nd edition; updated in 2022)

Global Revival or Global Deception: 10 Critical Warnings From the Titanic to the Church by Warren B. Smith

Note: These mailings cost you or your pastor nothing.* However, if you have just added your pastor to the list and would like him to receive, in addition to this current batch and future batches, some of the booklets we have sent out previously, you might wish to purchase one of our 15-booklet Pastors Packs. If you do buy any of those packs, you can put your pastor’s name in the ship-to section of the online order form or our mail-in form. We will send you the receipt and send him the pack(s). Your name will not be included unless you request it.

  1. Adding my thanks and prayers in support of and protection for your labors to “pluck some out of the fire” (Jude 1:23, Proverbs 21:16)

    Indeed, Christ is risen.

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?’

    YAY!

  2. We were very sad when we heard that they had elected Pettit (sad because of his Calvinism). We called the school and asked why they did that. They answered that though he was a Calvinist, he wasn’t going to integrate Calvinism into the school. But we knew it would be near impossible for that NOT to happen. They never should have elected him in the first place because Bob Jones historically speaking is not Calvinist. While we aren’t saying that Bob Jones University was perfect, they weren’t Calvinist or Reformed and they hadn’t introduced Spiritual Formation into the school. Now, who knows what they are?! One thing is almost for certain, the Reformed Christian media outlets (which is a large portion of Christian media today) will go after BJU over this.

Update: 4/6/23 (evening): This just in: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careers/bob-jones-university-chair-john-lewis-steps-down-one-week-after-president-s-resignation/ar-AA19z6FI. It seems that the final outcome may not have arrived yet.

  3. Requesting prayers for our alma mater, Bob Jones University during this time of turmoil.
As you are probably aware, the Steve Pettit has resigned as President after disagreement with the Board of Trustees ( and Bob Jones III).
We have been appalled for yrs. about Pettit’s new direction for BJU, as opposed to “Historic BJU”.
Cultural standards have changed drastically, so that
our alma mater is hardly recognizable.
It will be extremely hard for a new Pres. to “right the ship”, and this will take time. Must be done slowly and judiciously.
As is only right, students love Pettit. We also loved our Presidents during our time there. Hubby & I graduated, and taught at Bob Jones Academy.
I have been associated with BJU almost my whole life. And I spent 13 very happy yrs. there.
A group of @ 7000 ‘alums & friends” called “Positive BJU” have caused havoc among alums, students, and some faculty/staff. They have fought tooth & nail against Pettit’s leaving.
This started last Fall when the BoT almost did not renew Pettit’s 3 yr. contract. Someone leaked this info. The Board did renew the contact.
According to “Standing Without Apology”, there have been 3 attempted “coups” against BJU, and they have survived. But there was loss: students/ faculty/ staff/ finances.
Our prayer is that the Lord’s will be done. We believe His will is for BJU to return to the intentions of the Founders. However, there are many who are totally against these intentions.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.
    Marty Payne Roberts
