After turning his back on the prosperity gospel, Benny Hinn has admitted that his teachings “damaged a lot of people”.
In a sit-down interview with Encounter TV, the televangelist said that he didn’t want to be “known as the prosperity teacher” and that there was “gimmickry” involved in such teachings that “needs to stop”.
Hinn surprised many in the Christian community when he told his followers during a recent live broadcast that the Holy Ghost was “fed up” with preachers promising blessings in exchange for donations, and that he was “correcting” his theology. Click here to continue reading.

This is a hard thing to see. I do agree that it is prudent to watch his actions, but we are also to welcome a repentant brother. And so while I do think there is wisdom to waiting and seeing, our reluctance to extend the possibility of forgiving shows the hardness of our own hearts. And, in my estimation, he seems to be establishing a pattern of repentance. A couple years ago, his marriage was on the brink of divorce, and he took the blame for that, repented and by all accounts seemed to turn from that collapse. So much so that he and his wife renewed their vows.
I think we need to be cautious to be cynical about what may very well be the Lord.
I wonder if Benny will be apologizing as loudly as he originally spoke…
Yes, he would have to come to grips with the fact that he believes in a false Jesus who was tortured in hell by demons, was then “born again in hell” (Jesus died spiritually heresy). This is the doctrine of the Faith Movement and all of the leaders adhere to it. He would have to come to grips with the fact that demon powers operate through him. The Scripture describes people like this as being “wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever” (2 Peter 2:17).
If Hinn were to truly repent of all the evil deceptions he himself believes and has seduced millions into believing, he would fade into obscurity and become a nobody.
I agree that time will tell …however that was soooo much more he needed to repent of… according to past interviews where people have confronted him on the healing’s he claims to have taken part, false doctrine, uniting with Catholics, etc…
So may of these Prosperity Preachers have done the same thing…but never truthfully change and sadly are still on TV. Peter Popoff, Robert Tilton, Jim Baker and Jimmy Swagart…to name just a few.
We had a pastor in our area that fleeced many and got caught…never went to jail…came back and apologized…but never tried to give anything back to folks who were left in very bad situations. No instead he fled to ARIZONA is probably doing the same thing down there to trusting gullible seniors…
I might believe him more if he gives away all those handmade suits and lives a modest lifestyle like a true disciple would…
Amen charley, you stated it correctly! They boys are not to be trusted, they have lied to people for years and years, with no remorse. I agree if he were on the up and up, give up the money to some useful causes, like feeding the poor!
@ Nina, Amen sister, I was thinking the same thing. Now that he has made his millions, by deceiving the “flock” he is doing some repenting?? Well time will tell, and I for one am very skeptical! Will he also repent for all the supposed false healings he has advertised??? How about all the totally false teaching in other areas? No, I doubt it very much. Him, and those like him are Satan’s soldiers, deceiving the willfully gullible sheep.

Glad to see that I’m not the only skeptical about this sudden so-called “repentance.” If he was truly repentant, as said above, he would give up more than half of what he has taken from those gullible Christians and give it to the widows and orphans. He should also repent of all the false teaching he’s done as well.

I’m with Heidi!! This guy is dangerous!! My guess is there must be some “breaking news” about to come out and he’s attempting to get ahead of the story. It makes me ill to watch him fool so many people. He knows darn well what he’s done!
Hinn has a great deal more to come to terms with about his theology. First and foremost, he promotes and believes in a false Christ. His entire system of thought and belief is false, not biblical. And he has imparted his demonic power into millions, including children, whom he has diabolically “slain in the spirit”. I watched video clips posted on Lighthouse from the fall conference of the Berean Call. T.A. McMahon describes in detail the “Jesus” Hinn believes in. Also, clips from Hinn’s crusades are shown wherein he waved at people causing them to fall backward. He shouts like a maniac when he does this. In one particular clip, I noticed that a young girl whom he “touched” or waved his hand at on stage, literally bounced backward through the air so forcefully, it looked like she had been punched in the stomach and lifted off of her feet. This is pure demonism.

It’s easy to “repent” when you’ve already made your millions and get to keep them…but having said that, I hope he has. True repentance though is making restitution where possible, openly rebuking your past false teachings and aligning yourself with Christ and not the world any longer.
Huh? The “Holy Spirit” is fed up? Did Hinn have a secret meeting with the Holy Spirit? This Hinn clown is still a clown; don’t be fooled. How can he correct theology that was never theology? His sickening antics were plain daylight robbery. And now he wants to preach the cross? What does that mean? This dude is scheming again…these types don’t change.
