Members of the Grammy-nominated Christian band Newsboys publicly addressed the sexual assault allegations against former lead singer Michael Tait during a performance Sunday at the Elevate Music Festival, revealing that their longtime record label, Capitol Christian Music Group, has dropped them in the wake of the scandal.
“We’ve been dropped from our record label,” said Adam Agee, Newsboys’ new frontman, during an emotional pre-show statement at Highlands Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. “We’ve had radio stations pull our music. Thank you for sharing this excellent and heartfelt reminder and exhortation!
My name is Stephan and I would ask all yall to lend me your ear on what I want to say… I am a guitarist/musician, not professionally. However I can play anything and everything I desire. I have never had a musical lesson, but, I have understanding in music theory and the 12 notes and musical patterns from studying God’s Word… He, our Lord has given me this understanding… With that as a true and honest foundation please lend me, your brother in Christ, your ear.
I have never paid attention to The News Boys and or any of this cheesy bumble gum nonsense called CCM. That’s not to say that there aren’t some really good bands that are sincere and have a gift and calling to make music. Third Day, Big Tent revival, Guardian, to name a few… The News Boys are nothing more than many that are pre – fabricated boy bands for people to exploit and make money off of the children of born again parents… Having said all that, we as true believers need to pray for this guy. He obviously knows the truth and has lost his way through the passing pleasures of this world… It is a blessing that he has been exposed and that he is openly admitting his sin. It doesn’t matter if he did it through fear of being exposed. What matters is that he has realized and knows he has no where to run or hide… He, like the prodigal son needs to come home… We should all know he is disqualified from ministry but, he can come home… So don’t hate him. Pray for him!!! Pray for all those involved and that where hurt through all this. I do not write this because I am a fan of there music. Personally, I’m still amazed any true Christian listened to this, Back street Boys, Madonna, Brittany Spears , garbage. Just sayin… As far as the band being dropped by radio and their record label, That is great! At least their are still some who will not compromise and exercise the true Biblical principles…
Exposure can and will always be the best thing if it leads us to repentance. Remember brethren, This singer, the victims, the band are all humans and our battle is not with flesh n blood but with powers and principalities in the high places… PRAY FOR THESE PEOPLE!!!
