During this day, in which we set aside our normal earthly duties to give special thanks to the Lord for His many blessings, may we remember those believers in Jesus Christ who have gone before us and stood for the precious Gospel message. For many, it cost them their lives, but they had the blessed assurance that He for whom they stood, would deliver them and give them eternal life.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:15-17
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. John 12:24-26
