LTRP Note: The Message “Bible” written by the late Eugene Peterson is widely quoted by pastors and other Christian leaders. For many years, Lighthouse Trails has tried to show that this paraphrase of God’s Word should not be used (as it so often is) as God’s Word, and in fact, is a distortion of God’s Word as we can see in the following piece.
By John Lanagan
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)
The Message “Bible” is the unholy gift that keeps on giving the gift of spiritual deception. Millions of copies have been sold, and many in the visible church use The Message as their primary “Bible.”
And so we come to Romans 10:13. Let’s first look at the KJV and NASB translations:
For whosover shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (KJV) Click here to continue reading.

The most oversold and unproven * astric in the Bible is; OLDER MORE RELIABLE TEXTS DO NOT HAVE THIS PASSAGE. This assumes that the passage of time causes translators to add uninspired texts. It is also true that the number of texts do not prove reliability. I personally suspect thst Origen may be responsible for deletions in the older texts. Origen tried to blend his Platonist background with Christianity. Like the Gnostics they believed in dualism. Everything material is corrupt while everything spiritual is pure. He is the first to introduce the dangerous myth that all apocalyptic prophetic scripture must be understood allegorically not literally. He is the first to promote amillinial eschatology with an anti-Israel bias.. He also did indeed mutilated himself. That should establish his errant thinking.

I think you will be very interested to check out his occult version of the Lord’s prayer, where he states, “so above as below”….when he was writing, it became the rage, but people were very unaware of his open leading in the esoteric.

The EFCA church we used to belong to scoffed at me when I pointed out the modern Bible version problems. I presented the verse by verse comparisons they said it didn’t matter because the Holy Spirit would not allow them to be deceived. As long as the cover said Bible it was just fine. We left the church my family attended for over 100 years.

The “critical Greek” text, which underpins every single new Bible version, deletes over 2,000 Greek words from the Majority Text. GREEK words., not the English ye’s and thee’s. The NASB, NIV and ESV all delete or change key verses on the dangers of wealth (Mark 10:24; 1 Tim 6:5), makes Jesus a liar (John 7:8-10), weaves in Catholic doctrine (Acts 8:37’s omission/doubt; 2 Cor. 1:18; 2 Tim. 2:15; James 5:16, etc), deletes repentance and the blood in several key places, deletes out the deity of Christ in a few key places despite overwhelming manuscript evidence (1 Tim. 3:16; Rev. 1:6) and has Paul state that he wants to castrate his enemies (Gal. 5:12). I could literally go on all night long. The Old and New Testaments have many serious doctrinal deletions and changes none of which protect sound doctrine. God’s voice to the world is no small thing and the Greek that underpins the KJB has the support of 5,746 pieces of manuscript evidence vs. only 45 (and really 2) for the new versions. Those 45 pieces of evidence didn’t exist outside of Rome and Egypt prior to 1881. It’s a long but important story.
