Some of you may still remember year 1940, when the world stood at the brink of the World War II. Japan had been ravaging China and Korea. The Italian armies of Mussolini had occupied Ethiopia and were persecuting its Christians. And Hitler, who had already “annexed” Austria and Czechoslovakia, invaded Romania and planned to conquer all of Europe — and much more.
Elite leaders on the opposing side of the war would use the spreading turmoil to build support for their vision of a United Nations.[2] And we shouldn’t be surprised. The historical record is full of hidden agendas, clever deceptions and expedient chaos.
