LTRP Note:<\/strong> We are posting the following notice by Zondervan publishing regarding Leighton Ford and his new book, The Attentive Life<\/em>. The book offers a collection of quotes by and references to some of the most prolific eastern-style meditation teachers, including Thomas Keating, David Steindl-Rast, Gerald May, Kathleen Norris, and atonement rejector and Episcopal priest Alan Jones (Reimagining Christianity<\/em>). It is Steindl-Rast who suggested that the Gospel “gets in the way” between Christian and Buddhist dialogue.<\/p>\n

Leighton Ford wrote the foreword to<\/span><\/strong><\/a> Pete Scazzero’s The Emotionally Healthy Church<\/em>. Leighton Ford , author, social activist, leader, communicator and mentor, was singled out by Time <\/em>Magazine as “among the most influential preachers of an active Gospel.” He is president of Leighton Ford Ministries and has written several books including his most recent release The Attentive Life. Leighton will be at the National Pastor’s Convention in February….<\/p>\n

As Christian leaders how can we model Jesus’ call to “give full attention to what God is doing right now”? We will consider how we can begin to slow down, eliminate hurry, and use ancient (and timely) practices like “lectio divina” and praying “the hours” to listen more deeply to God, our own hearts, and those we lead….
