I have ordered some of your books, and I always look forward to your e-mails. \u00a0Thank you for your diligent work and God bless you and your staff.<\/p>\n<p>However, sometimes I am discouraged and confused. \u00a0If the &#8220;new spirituality, soul care, contemplative prayer&#8221; are a gauge \u00a0of what is happening, it seems like it is blossoming in leaps and bounds in the world. \u00a0But what concerns me is that, often one would be able to attend our church and hear a magnificent, passionate sermon, and many of the sermons that are preached, are such, that they \u00a0just couldn&#8217;t get any better. \u00a0But, then we hear of someone like Ruth Haley Barton&#8217;s series of Bible studies being held at the church, small group meetings teaching the attendees how to pray, \u00a0etc. \u00a0Occasionally, we hear of names of authors whose writings seem questionable, being mentioned in sermons, and there is little mention of the return of Christ any more. \u00a0And the word &#8220;sin&#8221; is hardly ever mentioned. \u00a0The church does a lot of good things for suffering people in various parts of the world, and I sincerely believe that many of the people attending have never even heard of this, new spirituality so one would have to be careful of what one would say. \u00a0So unless I am speaking to my own family, I say nothing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-16945 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/bigstock-Bible-On-Pulpit-995725-500x381.jpg\" alt=\"Bible On Pulpit\" width=\"262\" height=\"200\" \/>What I truly wish is that if the pastor\/pastors are striving to guide the church in the direction \u00a0of the new spirituality, that he\/they would come out and tell us and be honest about their intentions. \u00a0I sincerely think that they should be more truthful, \u00a0but possibly they would fear division in the church. \u00a0And so it goes on\u2014a slow trend to the new!!<\/p>\n<p>I don &#8216;t attend the church anymore, but I am very concerned for my children and grandchildren. \u00a0I tell them what I sincerely think is happening and after hearing it several times, I think that young people believe that we &#8220;old folks&#8221; are of another generation, and that they now know a new and better way. \u00a0Am I alone in my thoughts?<\/p>\n<p>Weary on the journey,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ruth Johnson (not real name)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Lighthouse Trails: I have&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":31,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[165,214,114,29,475],"tags":[2916,50,234,437],"class_list":["post-16942","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spiritual-deception-defending-the-faith","category-contemplative-churches","category-churches-in-crisis","category-contemplative-spirituality","category-letters-to-the-editor","tag-contemplative-spirituality","tag-deception","tag-new-spirituality","tag-letter-to-the-editor","wpcat-165-id","wpcat-214-id","wpcat-114-id","wpcat-29-id","wpcat-475-id"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.4 (Yoast SEO v28.4) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Letter to the Editor: Discouraged and Confused\u2014Why Won&#039;t Pastors Be Honest About Their &quot;New&quot; Spirituality Intentions?
