{"id":17168,"date":"2015-04-02T14:04:01","date_gmt":"2015-04-02T18:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/?p=17168"},"modified":"2015-04-02T14:06:40","modified_gmt":"2015-04-02T18:06:40","slug":"34000-black-latino-churches-cut-ties-with-presbyterian-church-usa-over-gay-marriage-stance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/34000-black-latino-churches-cut-ties-with-presbyterian-church-usa-over-gay-marriage-stance\/","title":{"rendered":"34,000 Black, Latino Churches Cut Ties with Presbyterian Church USA Over \u2018Gay Marriage\u2019 Stance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/christiannews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/PC-Banner-Credit-Drama-Queen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"192\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>LTRP Note:<\/strong> The following news article is posted for informational and research purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Heather Clark<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> <em>Christian News Network<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI), a coalition of approximately 34,000 churches spanning various denominations and representing an estimated\u00a015.7 million African Americans and Latinos, has \u201cbroken fellowship\u201d\u00a0with the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA)\u00a0after a majority vote was reached among the denomination\u2019s regional presbyteries to redefine marriage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/christiannews.net\/2014\/06\/19\/apostate-presbyterians-vote-to-allow-homosexual-marriages-by-3-1-ratio\/\" target=\"_blank\">As previously reported<\/a>, last June, the\u00a0General Assembly of PCUSA, headquarted in Louisville, Kentucky, voted 76-24\u00a0to allow licensed ministers to officiate same-sex ceremonies. Delegates\u00a0within the denomination\u00a0also approved a proposal to change language in the\u00a0PCUSA Book of Order\u00a0to redefine marriage from being a union between\u00a0\u201ca man and woman\u201d to rather only \u201ctwo persons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the change was not to become official until its 172 regional presbyteries across the country voted on the matter.
