{"id":2021,"date":"2008-02-22T23:51:34","date_gmt":"2008-02-23T03:51:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/?p=2021"},"modified":"2026-09-24T12:12:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T19:12:13","slug":"mennonites-and-the-new-paradigm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/mennonites-and-the-new-paradigm\/","title":{"rendered":"Mennonites and the New Paradigm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>by <\/strong><strong>Roll Over Menno\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nRoll Over Menno would like to alert concerned Mennonites to the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Brian McLaren and Rene Girard to speak at upcoming Preaching Peace Conferences.<br \/>\n&#8220;Preaching Peace&#8217; spreads nonviolent message<\/p>\n<p>Preaching Peace, which draws on speakers from a variety of Christian backgrounds, offers several nonviolent atonement seminars each year on topics ranging from &#8220;Perceptions of God That Lead to Violence&#8221; to &#8220;Restorative Justice as Forgiveness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, prominent speakers such as author Brian McLaren, theologian Jurgen Moltmann and (Rene) Girard will take part in some of the ministry&#8217;s other offerings\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Though most Anabaptist churches are familiar with the gospel of peace already, Hardin said there is a need for renewal among Mennonites who have been swayed by mainstream or fundamentalist ideas about politics, warfare and faith.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Hardin said. &#8220;We are out there really looking to inspire . . . new ways of thinking and being the church.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>See conference details here:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.preachingpeace.org\/makingpeace.htm<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>An interesting note here might be something else that Michael Hardin says about these new ways of thinking in a recently published book endorsed by emerging church leader Brian McLaren called <em>Stricken by God?<\/em>.
