To our Lighthouse Trails friends:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Joy and I wish to convey our overwhelming gratitude for all the letters and gifts\u00a0that came pouring in after our July 3rd house fire. And for the many caring\u00a0people who have asked for an update, we\u00a0are still awaiting the restoration of our home after the\u00a0fire that erupted from a seemingly innocent electrical outlet in\u00a0the basement.\u00a0Due to many unanticipated\u00a0factors,\u00a0 it looks like it will be at least another six months before it will be ready for safe occupancy. For a couple of people who routinely ran homeless programs and homeless\u00a0shelters\u00a0in our younger years, it has been quite an experience\u00a0to be without a home ourselves. Living primarily in various motels, we\u00a0will soon be moving into our sixth place\u00a0since the fire. To complicate the whole situation, prior to the fire\u00a0we were in the process of having 70 pine trees felled and removed from our yard. Because\u00a0of the four-year\u00a0California drought, bark beetles had killed most\u00a0of the beautiful pine trees that had graced our yard\u2014many of them 80-100\u00a0feet tall. Tree specialists\u00a0will be\u00a0working\u00a0around the construction people in what had\u00a0been\u00a0our very\u00a0quiet home and\u00a0yard.\u00a0Throw in a few personal\u00a0health concerns and the sad passing of our two dear friends and co-laborers Ray Yungen and Caryl Matrisciana, and it has, needless to say, been quite a year. Nevertheless, we are standing fast, hanging tight, and continuing to press on!<\/p>\n

In terms of ministry, earlier\u00a0in the year, I spoke at several\u00a0conferences and churches\u00a0in California and Canada and wrote several booklets. After the fire, I spoke in\u00a0California,\u00a0Oregon,\u00a0and Wisconsin. After the shock of the fire wore off\u00a0we were able to get an expanded 2nd edition\u00a0of Another Jesus Calling: How Sarah Young’s False Christ is Deceiving the Church<\/em> published along with another booklet\u00a0for Lighthouse Trails. Ironically, the booklet titled\u00a0Trusting God Through it All: What Scripture Tells Us<\/em>\u00a0was published just prior to the fire. I have found myself reading that particular booklet more than once since the fire.<\/p>\n

Again, we\u00a0are very thankful for those who have called, written, and helped support us through this process. We look forward to a new year of addressing necessary issues and doing whatever we can to update and encourage the body of Christ through our books, booklets, articles, and presentations at conferences. It\u00a0should be a very interesting and challenging time for us all.<\/p>\n

We wish everyone a blessed and joyful New Year. May we all press on toward the higher calling of our Lord.<\/p>\n
