People at Wichita Oasis start showing up at around 10 on Sunday morning, drinking coffee and chatting before the music begins.<\/p>\n

Once children are safely in the large playroom \u2013 complete with a chalk wall, a tent and plenty of toys \u2013 the adults and youths find their seats, ready for music and announcements.<\/p>\n

But when the music starts, the songs aren\u2019t about Jesus. And when the speaker begins, he or she doesn\u2019t read a Bible verse.<\/p>\n

Although Oasis follows a Sunday morning structure similar to many Christian churches, it calls itself a \u201ccommunity beyond belief,\u201d focused on atheists, humanists and agnostics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you move, it\u2019s so nice to just be able to go to a church of your denomination, make friends there, network there,\u201d said Alexandra Simmons, president of Wichita Oasis and a humanist. \u201cI love being able to provide that for people.
