{"id":3117,"date":"2007-05-17T01:51:13","date_gmt":"2007-05-17T05:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/?p=3117"},"modified":"2025-09-11T05:43:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T12:43:14","slug":"head-of-evangelical-group-converts-to-catholicism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/head-of-evangelical-group-converts-to-catholicism\/","title":{"rendered":"Head of Evangelical Group Converts to Catholicism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ethics Daily<\/em><br \/>by Bob Allen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A controversial <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20071009230913\/http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/index.php?p=507&amp;more=1&amp;c=1\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Baylor University<\/span><\/strong><\/a> professor has resigned as president of the Evangelical Theological Society, after receiving full communion in the Roman Catholic Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Francis Beckwith, associate professor of church-state studies at the Baptist-affiliated university in Waco, Texas, reported in a blog that he and his wife decided in late March to become Catholic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baptized as a Presbyterian, she must complete the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults before receiving sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because he received the sacraments as a child, all Beckwith had to do was go to confession, request forgiveness for his sins, ask to be received back into the Church and receive absolution.
