{"id":3279,"date":"2007-03-11T19:57:21","date_gmt":"2007-03-11T23:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/?p=3279"},"modified":"2026-07-19T14:04:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T21:04:03","slug":"christian-media-controlled-opposition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/blog\/christian-media-controlled-opposition\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Media &#8211; Controlled Opposition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Christian Media is protecting Rick Warren. <em>Christian Today<\/em> (a partner with <em>Christian Post<\/em> and <em>Breath<\/em>), in its March 11 article,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/churches.debate.rick.warrens.purposedriven.model\/9871.htm\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">&#8220;Churches Debate Rick Warren&#8217;s Purpose-Driven Model&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/a> says that Rick Warren &#8220;is stirring up controversy among congregations in the United States,&#8221; but the article doesn&#8217;t mention the detrimental reasons that some are stirred up. And the &#8220;complaints&#8221; it does mention are glazed over with praise for Purpose Driven as in this section of their article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Amid some complaints that the popular teaching may be more &#8220;self-help&#8221; than biblical, Warren acknowledged the difficulty in balancing relevance and biblical teachings. The evangelical pastor, however, is trying to bridge what happened over 2,000 years ago to today.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This type of slanted reporting is similar to an interview done last week by ABC Dateline with Rick Warren when &#8220;complaints&#8221;
