Smith<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disregarding Danger<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AFTER the&nbsp;<em>Titanic<\/em>&nbsp;collided with the iceberg, and with water flooding into the bowels of the vessel, some of the passengers frolicked in an almost party-like atmosphere around the estimated two tons of ice that had spilled out onto the foredeck of the already sinking ship. Several hours later, some of those involved in the merrymaking would be fighting for their lives in the freezing Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So-called modern-day \u201crevivals,\u201d like the Toronto Blessing with its \u201choly laughter\u201d and party-like atmosphere, are reminiscent of the <em>Titanic<\/em> passengers who, unaware of the disaster unfolding around them, wanted to join in all \u201cthe fun.\u201d&nbsp;<em>. . . <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Partying with God?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">. . . <strong>Rick Warren<\/strong><br \/>In a January 29, 2020 church e-mail framed with the heading \u201cTime to Dream\u201d and titled \u201cThe Power and Purpose of Parties!,\u201d Rick Warren was acknowledging Saddleback\u2019s 40th anniversary party that had just been held at their church. It had also been a celebration for Warren\u2019s forty years of ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Warren used his e-mail to present a mini-Bible study on \u201cThe Power and Purpose of Parties!\u201d He said that Jesus was so into partying that today\u2019s \u201cPharisees\u201d would call Jesus \u201ca party animal.\u201d Rick Warren\u2019s effort to present Jesus as a big \u201cparty\u201d person seemed more than strange.
