Where are you getting that from?&#8221; So we can set the record straight, we are providing the following documentation that shows Lifeway&#8217;s promotion of both contemplative and emerging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the most indicting piece of documentation is Lifeway&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20100823062241\/http:\/\/www.leadnet.org:80\/about_alliancepartners.asp\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">&#8220;alliance partnership&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/a> with Leadership Network (the organization that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com\/leadershipnetwork.htm\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">launched the emergent church movement<\/span><\/strong><\/a> in the mid-ninties)and to this day promotes the movement. For Lifeway to be partnered with Leadership Network is a bold statement that is louder than words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Lifeway Stores is carrying books by emergents Brian McLaren,Rob Bell, Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt as well as New Age sympathizers Ken Blanchard and Laurie Beth Jones. Add to this books by contemplatives Richard Foster and Gary Thomas and pantheists Thomas Keating and Basil Pennington. On their best selling list is Donald Miller&#8217;s <em>Blue Like Jazz <\/em>and Max Lucado&#8217;s <em><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Cure for the Common Life<\/span><\/strong><\/em> Now some may say that they carry all &#8220;Christian&#8221; books. No, that is not true. A quick check in their database reveals they do not carry Ray Yungen&#8217;s <em>A Time of Departing <\/em>Could that be because this is a book that exposes the very movements Lifeway is so clearly promoting?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifeway.com\/\"><strong><span style=\"\">Lifeway Christian Resources<\/span><\/strong><\/a> (which owns Lifeway Stores) is a hub for emerging\/contemplative resources with articles by <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20061121225525\/http:\/\/www.lifeway.com\/lwc\/article_main_page\/0%2C1703%2CA%3D156520%26M%3D50019%2C00.html\"><strong><span style=\"\">Brian McLaren<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, and ones speaking favorably about Leonard Sweet (including Lifeway&#8217;s recommendation for Sweet&#8217;s books) and Rob Bell.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Incidentally, Lifeway is carrying <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20060207174616\/http:\/\/www.lifewaystores.com\/lwstore\/product.asp?isbn=0849912709&amp;mscssid=TP0FK0JE7PP88MMF6XT0C1032UN1CQ17\"><strong><span style=\"\">Yoga for Christians<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we received the following&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":114,"featured_media":48264,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[70],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3506","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-christian-publishing","wpcat-70-id"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.4 (Yoast SEO v28.4) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Does Southern Baptist Lifeway Stores Promote Contemplative Spirituality &amp;
