There were approximately sixty people in the theatre\u00a0watching New Moon<\/em>, the sequel to the vampire blockbuster, Twilight<\/em>. Three quarters of the viewers were female, and most of them ranged in age from twenty down to twelve.<\/p>\n

I do not normally watch movies with sorcery or magic, not even Lord of the Rings. A wizard is a wizard is a wizard. The Bible is full of God\u2019s hatred for sorcery. This would probably surprise most of the moviegoers\u2013and quite a few Christians, as well. The audience was\u00a0there for a good time.\u00a0The crowd related to Bella, the\u00a0teen human who wants to become a vampire.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0sat there with\u00a0two copies of Castles in the Sand<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>the novel\u00a0by Carolyn Greene. As I watched the people\u00a0enjoy the movie, trying hard\u00a0to hear the various comments, I asked the Lord to show me who was going to get these books. Would it be the three young girls in the row in front of me? \u00a0The father with the two young children across the aisle?<\/p>\n

The children were six to eight years old. The vampire movie had no sex scenes, and very little swearing. It did have vampires, werewolves, and a girl who wants to become one of the undead.<\/p>\n

Would teenage female vampire fans like Castle in the Sand<\/em>? Absolutely.\u00a0The book\u00a0features a young heroine who, like Bella, becomes involved in something with serious ramifications. The novel\u00a0takes place in a traditional Christian college,\u00a0and shows\u00a0what is happening in churches, seminaries, and Christian colleges everywhere.\u00a0Vampires are fictional. Greene\u2019s novel, while fiction, is true: Contemplative\u00a0mystics\u00a0continue to\u00a0expand their influence.[1] They are\u00a0on the move\u00a0even as you read this.
