Who, after all, can argue against such a document, which calls for an end to mean-spirited debate and rancor?<\/p>\n<p>Had this truly been a secular document, there would be no problem. Unfortunately, this document is presented in <em>spiritual<\/em> terms. It begins with Psalm 133:1: <strong>\u201cHow good and pleasant it is when the people of God live together in unity.\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nThe document then states, \u201cAs Christian pastors and leaders\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Covenant for Civility also refers to \u201cthe unity we have in the Body of Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Incredibly, the agreement also includes a pledge there be \u201cno questioning of the other\u2019s faith\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet Brian McLaren, who rejects the Biblical Christ, is one of the signatories.
