LTRP Note:<\/strong> Suzan Johnson Cook (Dr. Sujay),\u00a0now appointed by Obama as Ambassador for International Religious Freedom, \u00a0is a\u00a0former Clinton spiritual advisor\u00a0and a “Reverend” with the American Baptist denomination. Her book, Too Blessed to Be Stressed<\/em> was published by Thomas Nelson. According to the U.S. Department of State:<\/p>\n

The Office of International Religious Freedom <\/a>has the mission of promoting religious freedom as a core objective of U.S. foreign policy. Headed by Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, its Office Director and staff monitor religious persecution and discrimination worldwide, recommend and implement policies in respective regions or countries, and develop programs to promote religious freedom.1<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to a Washington DC press release in 2009, Johnson Cook\u00a0 is “dubbed Billy Graham and Oprah rolled into one” (i.e., a new spirituality “Christian).<\/p>\n

Since aggressively stepping up to the \u201cspiritual\u201d plate during the 911 attacks in 2001, serving as the only NYPD Chaplain\u2019s until now, Dr. Sujay has been called, \u201cAmerica\u2019s Chaplain<\/span><\/a>\u201d. She firmly believes that, \u201cWe are mind, body and spirit which means it\u2019s time to put the stress of the current economic decline aside and get back to the basics of life \u2013 which is simply getting back in touch with your God, His wonderful promises and purpose for our lives.\u201d2<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Johnson Cook’s website, she\u00a0is also a member of Renaissance Weekend<\/a>, an interfaith think tank\u00a0that “seeks to build bridges across traditional divides of professions and politics, geography and generations, religions and philosophies.”<\/p>\n

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 6\/22\/10)\u2014<\/strong>On June 15, the White House announced that President Obama tapped Suzan Johnson Cook,\u00a0an American Baptist pastor and motivational speaker,\u00a0for the post of ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom. The position of the nation\u2019s top diplomat for religious freedom\u00a0had remained vacant since Obama\u2019s inauguration in January 2009.<\/p>\n
