Right now, nothing \u2013 and anything<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>From Orlando Sentinel blog<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Campus Crusade for Christ\u2019s recent announcement that the organization plans to change its name to Cru has left lots of people scratching their heads \u2014 especially after the ministry said it went through 1,600 possible names before coming up with that one.<\/p>\n<p>Cru? Really? What\u2019s that mean? Shorthand for \u201cCrusade\u201d? An acronym?<\/p>\n<p>Campus Crusade Vice President Steve Sellers says the name began as a nickname in the early 1990s on college campuses where students started referring to \u201cgoing to Cru\u201d or attending a \u201cCru meeting.\u201d Sellers couldn\u2019t say who first started using the nickname or\u00a0how it came about, but it\u2019s safe to assume \u2013 since this is the same generation of college students that reduced \u201cparents\u201d to \u201crents\u201d \u2013\u00a0that \u201cCru\u201d is short for \u201cCrusade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The decision to change the name came because both \u201cCrusade\u201d and \u201cCampus\u201d no longer accurately reflect the organization, Sellers said.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20121102111920\/http:\/\/blogs.orlandosentinel.com\/features-the-religion-world\/2011\/08\/03\/dont-be-cru-the-story-behind-campus-crusades-new-name\/\">Click here <\/a>to continue reading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So what does Cru mean&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[122],"tags":[871,872,873,874],"class_list":["post-7048","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-a-global-spirituality","tag-campus-crusade-for-christ","tag-bill-bright","tag-crusade","tag-cru","wpcat-122-id"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.4 (Yoast SEO v28.4) -
