The National Clergy Council<\/a> has declared a “state of emergency” for churches in response to the ObamaCare mandate that violates religious freedom.<\/p>\n

The issue at hand is that insurance companies are require to provide free contraception, sterilization, and the “morning-after” pill to employees, even though people or religious institutions might object to financing such coverage.<\/p>\n

“The real issue here, it’s not birth control; it’s religious liberty, it’s freedom of conscience, [and] it’s the freedom of individuals and their churches to determine their own positions and their own policies about contraception and abortion,” contends Norm Lund, a spokesman for the National Clergy Council.<\/p>\n

As an example, hospitals with a religious affiliation would be forced to sign up for and help finance insurance that provides those services, even though it violates the tenets of their faith. Self-insured religious institutions would finance the mandate as well. Lund submits that the government has crossed the line.
