2012 YEAR IN REVIEW – Part 7 – TOP 5 “LETTERS TO THE EDITOR” IN 2012

1/Letter to the Editor: Tens of Thousands Introduced to Contemplative Advocates Gungor and David Crowder at Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusade

This is another strong indicator that mainstream evangelical Christianity is going contemplative. In this particular case, tens of thousands of people were
introduced to contemplative advocates Michael Gungor and David Crowder.

2/Letter to the Editor: Why We Left Our Purpose Driven “Relevant” Church

I’ve been reading your blog for the past several years, and it has been a wealth of information-as well as an “eye-opener” for my family. We had joined a church when we moved to a new area, and it was so warm and friendly we made it our church home. It held all the doctrines of the faith that we grew up with (Baptist), but it was also very different in that the music was contemporary (as in loud and popular) and the dress was casual, which we never thought much of because we live at the beach.

3/Letter to the Editor: Saddened at Lighthouse Trails’ Approach – “please do not reject all other traditions”

I have browsed your web-page. Thank-you for the reminder to take the bible seriously. I am however saddened at the approach you seem to take – dividing people into groups, particularly “sound/orthodox thinker” and “Heretics” (I paraphrase – but it is the impression given). Surely the reality is that we are all in the same boat as Christians.  We all see “through a glass darkly” and struggle to grasp the depth of the love of God in Christ.

4/Letter to the Editor: “We thought we were safe.”

We left a moderate Baptist Church in Raleigh because of the emergent teaching. Thank the Lord, a number of families left because once we connected the dots, we left. We were all rather shaken that this extreme theology could be right under our noses and we didn’t recognize it. When I went for counseling to a very conservative pastor in the area, I was told that because we were in a moderate church, that type of heresy could easily be there.

5/Letter to the Editor: What Does Lighthouse Trails Believe About Israel?

Today, we received an e-mail from someone who asked us what we believe about Israel. For those who have read material at Lighthouse Trails over the past several years, that answer should be pretty clear. Basically, we believe God made an everlasting covenant with Israel. We do not believe the church replaces Israel (replacement theology). We believe there is biblical prophetic significance with Israel today. We believe that individual Jews need to hear and accept the Gospel just like every human being does, but the Bible is clear that Israel is the apple of His eye, and as believers, we have been grafted in. We have published two books by living Holocaust survivors and carry numerous other materials about the Holocaust, finding it to be one of the most atrocious acts every committed against humanity and particularly against the Jews. We believe Satan hates the Jews and Christians with a special vengeance.
