A number of far-left organizations have united behind a dangerous and dubious effort – to stifle religious freedom.
Organizations that include the ACLU and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State want President Obama to revise a 2007 memorandum allowing federal grant programs to practice their faith.
The memo interprets the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993.
Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel warns that those groups want to force religious-based groups to drop their religious-based hiring practices.
“Now that is unconscionable,” says Staver, “and I wouldn’t doubt whether this administration would listen to them and use this as an excuse to change this memo.”
President Obama has already issued an executive order requiring government contractors to hire homosexuals, even if it violates the contractor’s faith. That gives the business owner the choice of violating their religious beliefs or forfeiting the contract. Click here to continue reading.
