To Lighthouse Trails:
My wife likes to read “inspirational” books. She was recently given a copy of Jesus Calling. I told her that it was not scriptural (which didn’t go over well. She hates hearing anything negative, no matter what the subject is). At any rate, she finally threw the book away. Now she wants me to provide a list of what amounts to “approved” reading. Do you have a list of good books or authors? I know that Christian bookstores can be one of the most deceptive and dangerous places for Christians, and we need some guidance. We more than ever understand that “the way is narrow.” Can you help?

Our Answer:
We do have a list of publishers that as far as we know do not promote the “new” spirituality (which includes contemplative, emerging, seeker friendly, Purpose Driven, etc.). Those looking at books and DVDs from this list still need to use discernment and measure everything to God’s Word. http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/publishersgood.htm. One is not going to find the ultra-popular books from these publishers, but hopefully one can find solid biblical reading and study.
In addition to that list of publishers, try checking out the books and DVDs on the following websites:
